When choosing the equipment for your commercial farm

Jul 23, 2011

The times of the bullocks and the oxen have gone and technology has brought forth farm equipment that can do any job perfectly. You may, therefore, have several implements doing the same thing apparently but, in reality, there are a lot of differences in their utility in each case. The task of an aerator, therefore, can be done in a large number of ways but each is a specialist in its own way and you can give a different name to each kind of aerator.

The most obvious farm equipment is, of course, the tractor and today the humble tractor does a lot of jobs, since there are several kinds of attachments that are hooked on to it where the tractor takes the role of the workhorse of the earlier days. The various items that are used for cultivation may include the plough and the power tiller besides different kinds of harrows such as the spike, the drag, and the disk harrows. You have the chisel plough and the cultivator besides the spading machine and the rock picker that can help in clearing the land of weeds and stones besides loosening the soil to prepare it for planting of seeds.

If you delve deeply into cultivators, these are implements for secondary tillage which means the process of stirring and pulverizing the soil either for aeration or for making the smooth bed for sowing or for killing weeds when the crop has begun to grow. While the field cultivator is used to prepare the seedbed and to bury the crop residue, the row crop cultivators carry out weed control between two adjacent rows of the established crop.

You also have the mechanized planters and the transplanters as well as the mulch layers and the broadcast seeders. Special irrigation machinery is a subject in itself in the overall context of farm machinery besides harvesting machinery such as the combine harvester and thresher. Other farm equipmentwill include the bean, cane and corn harvesters and the gleaners, the cotton pickers as well as mowers and balers and bale movers, their trucks and planes or helicopters required for spraying or transportation.
